My Race Days
I’m sure my dress sense is pretty bad, and on occasions I’ve had people laugh at me but I’ve never committed a Crime of Fashion. A typical crime of fashion is demonstrated below: Tommy Carberry says I’d play...
The season draws to a close on Saturday. I’ve had nine winners and I am desperate to get to ten, but time is running out. It looks as though I’ll have two more rides before we bow out. I travel...
It’s been two months, three days and sixteen and a half hours since Da Enemy moved in, but who’s counting. She is enjoying herself since she moved over, and you couldn't blame her. She gets to live with four lads...
It's Cheltenham Preview season with the highlight of the year The Cheltenham Festival only days away now. I'm just doing the one preview this year at The Claddagh Ring on Thursday 7thMarch. It's an Irish pub in London and...
Life is great for me at the minute, mainly because I’m flat out and things are going well. I love being busy, and I can’t sit still for two minutes. I’m riding out every day, cleaning cars on the days...
Monday the 14th, Plumpton got the go ahead to race which was the start of a normal week for me. “Sunny Plumpton” on a Monday as we call it... when it’s always raining. I drove Noel Fehily, Gavin Sheehan and...
This past week has been a bit depressing weather wise with race meetings being called off left, right and centre. But the show must still go on. Horses still have to be exercised in the mornings and it’s times like...
LensioStyle, Meet Da Parents and Pedicures A new year is here and it’s a fresh start for us all. Last year was a good one with plenty of fun and winners but I can never have enough of either and...
People say to me, "Oh you got to mix it with the big boys last Saturday." I say, "Da big boys got to mix it with me!" Last week I got a good ride for Colin Tizzard called Golden Chieftain...
Well I should cry more often! In my last blog I was saying that opportunities to ride winners were scarce and that I hadn't ridden a winner in a fair while. When you’re riding for good trainers you immediately have...
Racing has been getting that bit busier for me recently, thank god because Santa would not be coming next month otherwise, and Lady Rebecca would not be happy about that! While the rides are there, the quality is not and...
Things are starting to get a bit busier racing wise now, and I’ve a pretty busy week ahead. Plumpton on Monday, Tizzards and Exeter on Tuesday and I finish off the week at Warwick and Towcester. Friday if I’m not...
It hasn’t been a great month for me rides and winners wise, but hopefully things will start picking up shortly. As ever I’m doing plenty of schooling and riding out at Nigel Twiston-Davies’, Charlie Mann’s, Ben Case’s, Colin Tizzard’s and...
The Jumping Season steps up another gear this week with a couple of meetings each day from today. I’ve one ride today for John O’Shea and I should be racing most days from now on, but as ever will only...
Holidays are over, tans are topped up but it’s time to get back to work and hopefully have an injury free and successful season. The rain has never been far away all summer which put paid to horses that wanted...
Hay, I'm David or Dave Crosse and I'm a professional Jumps jockey originally from near Cashel, Co Tipperary. I am now based and have been for the last 14 years in Lambourn in Berkshire - the home of Jumps racing.
Racing has been going well for me this season and I hope to make a big impact this winter when the proper jumps racing starts. I've been through the mill with injuries down the years but nothing that has ever stopped me getting back in the saddle. I've probably broken bones in places people didn't even realise they had bones.
I'm going to take you through what I get up too on and off the track, and try give you an insight of a jockey's life and the craic we have 24/7.
Being a Jumps jockey is a dangerous game but to me its the best game in the world. I look forward to sharing the craic we have in the weighting room with the Lovetheraces and Attheraces readers. It a side of the sport that very few people see so its going to be pretty special.
