New Rail Ticket Launched For Students
Students studying in York, Leeds, Sheffield, Nottingham, Derby, Manchester and Exeter can buy a new train ticket which aims to encourage students to travel to horseracing fixtures at Cheltenham Racecourse.
Launched by train operator CrossCountry and partners Racing Enterprises Ltd, the ‘flat rate student fare’ is part of a wider campaign to attract a younger audience to regular meetings held at the popular Gloucestershire racecourse – often referred to as the ‘home of jump racing’. The move is part of the ‘Racing for Change’ initiative which is seeking more participation in horseracing events.
Available on racing days to and from Cheltenham Spa, the flat fare will cost just £10 from Manchester, Sheffield, Nottingham, Derby and Exeter and £15 from York and Leeds. Students who wish to take up the new offer can purchase the ticket online via crosscountrytrains.co.uk.
Andy Cooper, Managing Director at CrossCountry, said: “Horseracing is growing in popularity across the country and we are fully backing the Racing for Change campaign. It aims to get young people interested and cement them as race goers of the future. We feel that by offering students a low-priced ticket to Cheltenham on race days will make it as easy as possible for them to experience a magical venue set on the edge of the Cotswolds.”
Up and coming events at Cheltenham racecourse are:
- The Open from 11th-13th November
- The International which takes place between 9th and 10th December
- The Festival Trials Day on 28th January
