Star Spotting

Sport of Queens...and the rest

Racing has always been known as the "Sport of Kings"...but these days, it is more like the Sport of the entire Royal family.

Her Majesty The Queen herself is a huge racing fan, and owns many horses (who all run in her distinctive purple and red colours), a love which she shared with the beloved Queen Mother, who even has an important race named after her at the Cheltenham Festival in March- the Queen Mother Champion Chase.

The Royal Procession through the crowds at Ascot

Her Majesty can often be seen at the races, cheering on her horses, and especially at Royal Ascot where she attends all five days of the special meeting in June, and takes part in a Royal Parade through the crowds before the start of Racing.

Her love for the sport has clearly spread to the family as Prince Charles and Camilla, princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Prince William and girlfriend Kate and many other Royal family members have been spotted at the races recently. And then of course there is Zara Philips, who was voted Sports Personality of the Year for her equestrian exploits, and loves a day at the races.

Check out our Gallery of Royal Family members we have spotted at the races, and let us know if you've seen any and you could win free tickets to a race meeting of your choice!
