Racing is intrinsically associated with attracting top celebrities, mixing it with the masses in the betting ring or champagne lawns. However, when most people picture stars at the races it's normally a glamorous actress in an outrageous hat, or a striking WAG supping champagne.

However, the drama and excitment of the sport often attracts a different breed of star, those who are more used to the adrenalin and passion than the dresses and styles...the sporting stars.

That's right, racing is the perfect place to bump into your own personal sporting heros, rubbing shoulders with us mere mortals as they risk their fortunes on a cheeky punt on the favourite.

Ok, so it doesn't matter nearly as much to Michael Owen or Eddie Jordan if their £5 each way bet doesn't come up as it does to us, but it just goes to show that the excitement of placing a bet is still the same whether you're a sporting superstar or a pub team punter.
