Family Day Out At The Races

If you’re looking for a family day out, then why not consider a day at the races?  With racecourses all over the country, you'll be able to find one near you whether you're looking for something to do on a weekday during the summer holidays, or on a weekday evening.

If you're visiting the North West then you'll definitely want to visit Aintree, the home of the Grand National, near Liverpool.  Haydock, near Warrington hosts many races during the year, and is one of the most family friendly courses. Chester is one of the oldest and famous racecourses in the country, and just outside of the city centre, so if you're in the region, why not experience it for yourself?  If you're visiting the Lake District, then a day at Cartmel races is highly recommended.

The North East attracts many visitors, and so if you're exploring the North Yorkshire Moors, Newcastle or the spectacular coastline, of Scarbrough or Whitby, then a trip to Newcastle, Sedgefield, Redcar, Beverley, or York race course is unmissable.  Wetherby is the premier jumps only course in Yorkshire, so if you’re a fan of steeple chases, then you'll definitely want to visit Wetherby.

The Midlands is home to many racecourses, so if you're visiting Derby, Nottingham, Birmingham, Peterbrough, or East Anglia, then you'll want to go to Uttoxeter, Huntingdon, or Newmarket whilst you're here. Southwell race course, near Nottingham is one of only 2 in the country that offers all weather flat and jump racing, every month of the year and is very popular.

The South West is where you'll find the Cheltenham Festival, Wincanton, Exeter, and Newton Abbot. If you're visiting Devon or Cornwall, Bristol or Somerset, then you'll definitely want to spend a family day out at one of these iconic racecourses.

The South East is home to some of the most famous race courses in the country.  Glorious Goodwood is reputed to be the most picturesque racecourse in the country. Lingfield Park, Ascot, Sandown Park, and Newbury are all within easy reach of London and the Home Counties and the south coast.  Why not combine a trip to the capital with a fun day out at the races?

Scotland offers racing at Perth, as well as Musselbrough near Edinburgh, Hamilton Park near Glasgow, and Ayr.  If you're visiting Scotland on holiday, then you won't want to miss a family day out and experience the legendary Scottish hospitality for yourself.

Wales has racecourses in Bangor on Dee in the north, Chepstow in the south, and Ffos Las, near Swansea.  If you're visiting Wales on holiday then you'll want to spend a family day out at the races here and make more of your trip to Wales.

No matter which racecourse you go to, you're sure to be have a fantastic family day out, and see some great horses and races.
