Newmarket Crowns the Champions of the Future

This weekend will see the first renewal of Dubai Future Champions Day, after a very successful induction into the racing calendar in 2011. Held at Newmarket Racecourse, it has to be one of the best days racing of the season boasting six Group races along with the historic and ever-popular Cesarewitch Handicap, which forms the second half of the Autumn Double.

As the name suggests this day is all about crowning the champion horses of the future, amongst the six Group races are the two Group One races for two-year-olds - the Middle Park Stakes and the Dewhurst Stakes. Winning one of these two races gives a good indication of how a horse might perform as a three-year-old. Previous winners of the Middle Park Stakes include Dream Ahead and Dutch Art, previous  Dewhurst victors include Frankel and we all know how well he has gone on to do!

Although the horses will be taking centre stage on the track, there will be plenty of other activities going on off the track. Continuing the Future Champions theme Newmarket Racecourse have organised a horseracing jobs fair called Racing For Jobs. This will give young adults and students, interested in a career in racing, the opportunity to meet some of the prominent employers and organisations in the industry. Organisations attending the fair include The British Racing School, The National Stud and Darley Flying Start to name but a few. What makes this day even better for those future Frankies or up and coming APs is under 18s who are accompanied by an adult, or students carrying an NUS card or some other form of Student ID will be given FREE ENTRY to the racecourse.

So make sure you get yourself down to HQ, watch seven fantastic races and maybe even get a job while you’re at it. For more information please see the Newmarket Racecourse website.
