Great prizes and record prize money up for grabs at 30th Arabian Race Day
The Dubai International Arabian Race Day celebrates its 30th anniversary at Newbury Racecourse on Sunday 23 September with record prize money and a fabulous array of attractions, themed activities and prizes to be won for visitors.
Top-class Pure Bred Arabians from Europe and the Gulf States will compete in eight races for prize money totalling £159,000 on the day, with the feature contest coming in the shape of the £50,000 Group 1 Shadwell Dubai International Stakes, a race won by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan, one of the world’s leading owner / breeders of Arabians, no fewer than 11 times.
Admission is free to the event and racing will get underway at 2.00pm following a parade of ‘Versatile Arab Champions’, who achieved success in a wide range of equine disciplines including dressage, show jumping and endurance, staged by the The Arab Horse Society in the Parade Ring. Gates open at 11.00am and those arriving early will be handed a voucher which can be exchanged for a ‘goodie bag’ throughout the afternoon.
Competitions on the day include a chance to win a trip to Dubai and a brand new car, whilst prizes will also be awarded for the best-dressed lady and best children’s hat, along with the winner of the Colourful Camels Community Art Project.
