Black Cabbie-ar!

Australian tourists will certainly be flagging down Paul Gardiner’s London taxi as it’s been adorned in the colours of the Aussie horseracing superstar, Black Caviar, who’s here to win her 22nd consecutive race in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot on Saturday 23rd June.

Sports-mad Paul, 48, who’s no slouch when it comes to racing around Town, is a big fan of Black Caviar, who’s the undefeated Australian sprint champion and the fastest horse in the world. She’s won 21 races on the trot, a modern day international record at the top level of the sport, starting odds-on favourite on every occasion except her first-ever race.

Decorating his taxi in her well-known Salmon Pink and Black Spots silks design should be a magnet for Antipodeans over here for Royal Ascot or the Olympics as she’s known in Australia as the “Wonder from Down Under”.

Paul Gardiner, who’s as convinced that she’ll be a household name here after scorching to victory at Ascot, commented, ‘I rank her the best in the world. Based on my knowledge, she’s as fast as a Ferrari up Fleet Street so there’s no risk of her being held up in traffic at Ascot. So my tip is, have a ton on and be lucky.’

Paul, from Rainham in Essex, won’t be alone in his support for Black Caviar as several thousand fans have followed Black Caviar to Britain and are certain to be dressed in all manner of pink and black outfits so it’s clear who they’re backing.

The cabbie might even be lucky enough to get a fare to Ascot on the morning of the race, as Black Caviar’s owners, friends and family number over 150 individuals.
